The Mandan Fire Department has received approval to acquire a rescue boat to enhance its response to water emergencies in the area. The need for such a vessel was first identified in 2024, prompting the department to seek funding through an RBS grant application that August.

By spring 2025, the department successfully raised $39,000 from 11 local organizations, surpassing the required match of $35,874.50. The new rescue boat will be stationed at Lakewood Station 2 and is expected to be purchased, delivered, and paid for by September 30.

City officials have approved both the agreement and purchase of the boat, acknowledging its significance in bolstering water rescue capabilities for community safety. The Fire Department plans to formally recognize contributors at a future date.
