North Dakota has introduced ND Gateway, a new portal aimed at modernizing and streamlining access to state government services for business owners and entrepreneurs. This initiative is led by North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) alongside partner agencies.
ND Gateway provides a centralized source of business tools and resources, offering services such as registrations, annual reports, tax compliance, insurance compliance, and general tutorials. The platform aims to become a comprehensive location for business-related services in North Dakota.
Evonne Amundson, Chief Business Application Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “This is an exciting first step of many for ND Gateway. Business leaders should spend their time on the needs of their customers and staff, not drowning in redundant layers of bureaucracy. ND Gateway is one more way North Dakota continues to be the best state in the country to do business.”
Amundson emphasized the portal's user-centric approach: “This portal puts citizens and other users in the hub of business support, with a ‘no wrong door’ approach. If someone currently knows where to get business-related services, they will still have direct access through individual agency websites. But new and returning users alike will find NDGateway.nd.gov a convenient option for services and information.”
Among its features are a Business Interest Form for sharing new business ideas with the state, a Business Checklist from five related state agencies to guide users in establishing or modifying businesses, and an updated "Starting a Business" form that connects users with resources at the Small Business Development Center.
Five initial state agencies are leading this initiative: Secretary of State, Office of the State Tax Commissioner, Job Service North Dakota, Workforce Safety & Insurance, and Commerce. Additional agencies are expected to join as further phases develop.
