Join author Zelko Leon, M.D., at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library for an event in Meeting Room B. The author will discuss his book, "Maps of the Heart: Immigrant Tales of Belonging and Becoming." This collection of stories is set in the former Yugoslavia and the United States, exploring themes such as love, grief, resilience, and self-discovery. These narratives reflect on how past experiences influence identity and choices.
Zelko Leon is a psychiatrist with a background rooted in both academic and clinical teaching positions at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Brown University. Originally from the former Yugoslavia, he moved to the United States in 1988 for further training. His bibliography includes five nonfiction books and a poetry collection; however, "Maps of the Heart" marks his first venture into fiction writing.
The author will provide insights into his writing process during this event. Attendees will also have an opportunity to purchase copies of his book.
The event is scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library's Meeting Room B. The session is open to all ages and media representatives are welcome to attend.
