The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library will host an author visit with Zelko Leon, M.D., in Meeting Room B. The event will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 7:00 pm and is free and open to all ages. Media representatives are invited to attend.

Dr. Zelko Leon, a psychiatrist by profession, will discuss his book "Maps of the Heart: Immigrant Tales of Belonging and Becoming." This work marks his first foray into fiction after writing five nonfiction books and a collection of poetry. The book offers personal stories set in the former Yugoslavia and the United States, exploring themes such as love, grief, resilience, and self-discovery.

Born in the former Yugoslavia, Dr. Leon immigrated to the United States in 1988 to complete his training at the University of North Dakota. He has since held academic and clinical teaching positions at both the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Brown University.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Leon speak about his journey in writing "Maps of the Heart," with copies available for purchase during the event.

For additional information regarding this event, interested parties can contact Mac Kemmer, Adult Services Program Coordinator at Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library.
