The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is in the process of updating its long-range transportation plan, inviting public participation through both online and in-person events. This initiative, known as the Transportation Connection Update: 2025-2050, aims to shape the state's transportation policies and investments for the next quarter-century.

Ron Henke, NDDOT director, emphasized the importance of community involvement: “Every North Dakotan, in every part of the state, deserves a transportation system that works for them. Updating Transportation Connection gives us the chance to incorporate public input as we shape a transportation future that’s safe, reliable and well-connected for everyone.”

The department is reaching out to residents and stakeholders to contribute their feedback on the future vision, values, goals, and strategies for North Dakota's statewide transportation system. Interested individuals can attend public meetings or engage online via the updated project webpage at www.dot.nd.gov/transportation-connection. The webpage also offers a transportation priorities survey and an option to subscribe for email updates regarding the project.

The draft plan is expected to be completed by Spring 2026. Upon completion, there will be a statewide public comment period. Feedback is welcome throughout the development phase via multiple channels including the project website, in-person engagement events, or email at dotplanning@nd.gov.
