Head-on collision on Morton County Road leaves two injured

On Wednesday, June 11, a head-on collision occurred on Morton County Road 90, approximately 2.5 miles south of I-94 exit 97 near Hebron. The crash involved a 2003 Chevrolet Impala and a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a trailer.

Joshua Opp, aged 48 from Hebron, was driving the Impala northbound and sustained serious injuries. Justin Heinle, aged 49 from Bismarck, was driving the Silverado southbound and suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were using seatbelts and airbags deployed during the crash.

The incident happened at around 2:46 PM under good weather conditions on a gravel road. According to reports, Opp was checking visibility to pass another vehicle in dusty conditions when his Impala collided head-on with Heinle's Silverado in the southbound lane.

Emergency services including the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), Morton County Sheriff’s Office, Hebron Ambulance, Glen Ullin Ambulance, Sanford AirMed, and Hebron Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Both drivers were transported to Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck for treatment.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
