Single-vehicle crash claims life near Leeds

A fatal crash occurred on Thursday, June 12, at 7:42 AM on US Highway 2, approximately seven miles east of Leeds. The incident involved a single vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was traveling west when it left the roadway. The vehicle entered the median, struck an embankment, crossed the roadway, and came to rest in a slough.

The driver of the vehicle was a 62-year-old male from Devils Lake who died at the scene. According to reports, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. There are no charges filed in connection with this incident.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into this rollover crash. Other agencies involved include the Benson County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Region Ambulance Service, Leeds Ambulance Service, and Leeds Fire Department.

Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time of the accident.
