The Mandan Public School District has initiated its 2025 summer lunch program for children and teenagers, which commenced on June 2.
According to the district, free summer lunches for individuals aged 18 and under will be available until July 31, 2025, from Monday to Friday at three park locations: Kiwanis (11–11:30 AM), Dykshoorn (11:45 AM–12:15 PM), and Eagles (12:30–1 PM). Meals will not be served on July 3 or 4, and all food must be consumed on-site. Adults have the option to purchase lunch for $5. The program is a collaboration between the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Mandan Public Schools and is accessible to all children regardless of income.
Mandan Public Schools’ Nutrition Services Department reports that it prepares and serves approximately 45,000 lunches and 15,000 breakfasts each month in accordance with USDA guidelines and the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. These guidelines include specific requirements for fruits, vegetables, whole grains, calorie limits, and sodium reduction. Students are provided with multiple meal options that meet federal standards, with procedures in place to offer alternative items when necessary. Outside restaurant food is prohibited in school cafeterias. Further information can be found on the Mandan Public School District website or by contacting the Nutrition Services Director.

Members include President Sheldon Wolf along with Rick Horn, Amy Schanandore, Marnie Piehl, Kama Hoovestol, Darren Haugen, Lori Furaus, Tom Peters, and Jake Schmidt. The Board operates through standing committees focused on facilities, finance, policy, personnel, and student achievement. Dr. Mike Bitz serves as superintendent.
