Mandan Public School District has announced that the Morton Mandan Public Library (MMPL) will host its Summer Reading Kick-Off celebration on June 5 at Dykshoorn Park.

According to the Morton Mandan Public Library, the 2025 Summer Reading Program will commence with a vibrant event inviting community members to participate in activities, enjoy food, and engage in various games. The festivities will begin with children's yoga at 4 p.m., followed by the official program starting at 4:30 p.m., and concluding around 6:30 p.m.

During the kick-off, attendees can learn about the Summer Reading Program, register for participation, and witness the unveiling of a new community-made mosaic by local artist Molly McLain. Community partners will offer additional activities and information to create an inclusive environment for all ages.

The library aims to foster an inclusive community of lifelong learners by providing books, audiobooks, DVDs, board games, magazines, and free digital resources such as eBooks and eAudiobooks through Libby. It also offers public computers, free internet access, printing services, notary services, passport assistance, tax help, and exam proctoring. Various activities are hosted for all age groups including storytimes, book clubs, camps, STEAM programs, and family challenges. Patrons have access to reservable study and meeting rooms with different capacities and rental options. Items can be borrowed from 23 libraries or requested through interlibrary loans.

Mandan Public School District's mission is to provide students with rigorous learning experiences while developing their social and emotional skills. The Mandan School Board consists of nine members serving as the policy-making body for the district during formally called meetings. The Board sets policies, approves budgets, establishes goals, manages property, and connects the district with the public. Members also serve on various committees focused on facilities, finance, policy development, personnel matters, and student achievement under Superintendent Dr. Mike Bitz.
