Gov. Kelly Armstrong has ordered all U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, May 29, in honor of state Rep. Cynthia "Cindy" Schreiber-Beck, who will be laid to rest that day. Armstrong also encourages residents of North Dakota to lower their flags at homes and businesses as a sign of respect.

Schreiber-Beck passed away on May 18 at the age of 70. She had been serving in the state House of Representatives since 2015. Her career also included nearly four decades as executive director of the North Dakota Agricultural Aviation Association and a tenure as commissioner on the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission from 1997 until 2022.

The directive for flags to be flown at half-staff coincides with Schreiber-Beck's burial, which will occur during a private ceremony in Wahpeton on Thursday. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Fargo Air Museum, located at 1609 19th Ave. N., with visitation beginning two hours earlier.
