Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, released a statement following President Trump's announcement of plans to construct a Golden Dome missile defense shield. The initiative will be led by General Michael Guetlein, Vice Chief of Space Operations.

"We appreciate President Trump’s commitment to national defense and this plan for a ‘Golden Dome’ missile defense shield to protect the United States," said Hoeven. He highlighted North Dakota's involvement in the project through its low-earth orbit satellite mission in Grand Forks, early warning radar at Cavalier Space Force Station, and hypersonic testing activities conducted by the Test Resource Management Center out of Grand Sky.

Hoeven also mentioned his meeting with General Guetlein regarding these missions in North Dakota. "Given growing threats around the globe, I look forward to working with General Guetlein and the Trump administration to advance this and other projects important to our national defense."
