The Mandan Public School District has announced the commencement of the 2025 Free Summer Lunch Program, set to begin on June 2. The program will provide free meals, supported by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), to all children in Mandan aged 18 and under. Adult lunches will be available for purchase.
According to the Mandan Public School District, free summer lunches for children and teenagers will be available from June 2 to July 31, 2025. Meals will be served Monday through Friday at three park locations: Kiwanis from 11:00 to 11:30 AM, Dykshoorn from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM, and Eagles from 12:30 to 1:00 PM. No meals will be provided on July 3 or July 4, and all food must be consumed on-site. Adults can purchase lunch for $5. This initiative is a partnership between the USDA and Mandan Public Schools and is open to all children regardless of income.
The Nutrition Services Department of Mandan Public Schools prepares and serves approximately 45,000 lunches and 15,000 breakfasts each month in accordance with USDA guidelines and the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. These guidelines include specific requirements for fruits, vegetables, whole grains, calorie limits, and sodium reduction. Students are offered multiple meal options that meet federal standards, with procedures in place to provide alternative items when necessary. Outside restaurant food is not permitted in school cafeterias. More information can be found on the Mandan Public School District website or by contacting the Nutrition Services Director.
