The Mandan Public School District announced that students Gavin Soule and Ryan Selby participated in the regional drone racing event hosted by Fenworks from May 3-4.
According to the Mandan Public School District, Soule and Selby competed at the Fenworks Regional Drone Racing event. Soule earned second place in the First-Person View event, while Selby finished twelfth. The duo also secured second place in the team First-Person View event. Additionally, Soule placed tenth in the Simulator event, and together they achieved eighth place in the team simulator event.
The 2025 Fenworks Drone Racing Regional Tournament was held at North Dakota State University’s Memorial Union in Fargo on May 3-4. It featured K-12 and collegiate competitions with award ceremonies following each championship match. The event was free for spectators, with parking available at designated lots. Registration took place outside the Memorial Union Ballrooms on the second floor. According to Fenworks, this event is not affiliated with Bat Cave Games and aims to bring esports and drone racing to high schools, allowing students to compete with neighboring districts that have already joined.
Mandan Public School District's mission is to provide students with rigorous and personalized learning experiences while helping them develop social and emotional skills for success. The Mandan School Board consists of nine members serving as the policy-making body for the district, with authority only during formally called meetings. According to the district, the Board sets policies, approves budgets, establishes goals, manages property, and links the district with the public.

Members include President Sheldon Wolf, Rick Horn, Amy Schanandore, Marnie Piehl, Kama Hoovestol, Darren Haugen, Lori Furaus, Tom Peters, and Jake Schmidt. The Board operates with standing committees focused on facilities, finance, policy, personnel, and student achievement. Dr. Mike Bitz serves as superintendent.
