The North Dakota Agriculture in the Classroom Council (AITC) is scheduled to hold a meeting on Friday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the 6th floor conference room of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, located within the State Capitol building.
Key topics on the agenda include the introduction of a new council member, Karla Meikle, and the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting held on September 19, 2024. An update on the progress of grantees' projects and discussion on the use of any unused funds by grantees will also be addressed. Additionally, the agenda includes an update regarding AITC's presence in the legislature, particularly concerning the Ag Day Booth.
Other items for discussion involve reviewing current AITC initiatives and planning for the 2025-26 school year. These plans include enhancing classroom kits that feature robotics, worm farms, butterfly kits, wool spinning kits, and career fairs, along with a focus on the Specialty Crop Block Grant related to honey kits.
The council will explore opportunities for AITC participation at public events such as the Capital A’Fair and the hosting of agriculture career activities, including the FFA state convention and the Pride of Dakota Showcases. The distribution of Ag Mags and their timeline will also be evaluated.
New grant applications will open on Monday, May 12, and will close on June 6. The meeting will include a review of these grant applications. The next council meeting is set for June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., where selection of grant funding will be a primary focus.
The gathering will conclude with the adjournment of the meeting.
