The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is set to implement new traffic patterns at Interstate 94 (Exit 161), beginning the week of May 5. This change, part of the ongoing Interstate 94 Interchange Project, will influence how vehicles enter and exit at Centennial Road and Bismarck Expressway.
Starting that week, drivers traveling on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will employ a temporary loop on-ramp to access I-94 West. The current I-94 West on-ramp is scheduled to close for reconstruction. Meanwhile, drivers on I-94 East will use a temporary loop off-ramp to reach Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway as the existing I-94 East off-ramp undergoes reconstruction.
Current ramps for entering I-94 East or exiting from I-94 West will remain operational.
NDDOT advises drivers to consult dot.nd.gov/exit161 to receive the latest updates regarding traffic patterns and construction progress.
The I-94 Exit 161 Interchange project commenced in spring 2024 with completion anticipated in summer 2026. The redesign aims to enhance traffic flow by incorporating loops for efficient right turns and removing two left-turn movements. Project officials expressed their gratitude to the public for their cooperation as the infrastructure improvements progress.
