Governor Kelly Armstrong engaged in a roundtable discussion in Fargo, welcoming U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to North Dakota. Armstrong praised the Trump administration's responsiveness to the agricultural sector, describing it as beneficial for the state. He stated, "North Dakota farmers and ranchers are the best in the world, and we appreciate Secretary Rollins coming to Fargo to hear firsthand about the challenges and opportunities facing our ag producers as they feed and fuel the world." Armstrong expressed a desire to collaborate with Rollins and the administration to enhance food security, expand markets, and address international trade relationships.
Rollins visited North Dakota shortly after her February 13 confirmation as the 33rd agriculture secretary. During a meeting with agricultural producers, researchers, and other stakeholders at North Dakota State University's Peltier Complex, she highlighted the U.S. Department of Agriculture's initiative to allocate over $340 million in disaster assistance. This includes over $5 million designated for North Dakota to aid in rebuilding electric infrastructure damaged by severe storms and wildfires.
U.S. Senator John Hoeven, a key member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, hosted Rollins in Fargo. After the roundtable, Armstrong and Rollins joined NDSU's Student Ag Ambassadors for lunch.
