Residents of Bismarck and the surrounding area are encouraged to join a community-wide "Storm Report Survey Practice Drill" taking place on April 30. The drill coincides with Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week in North Dakota, observed from April 28 to May 2.

Bismarck Emergency Management aims to use the survey tool for enhancing situational awareness following significant storm events. The tool is designed to help determine the scope of storm damage, guiding necessary recovery efforts.

Participation involves using the storm report survey tool to report fictional impacts or damages from any location in Bismarck. Participants are asked to consider submitting a photo with their assessment, which can be of a neutral or playful subject such as a flower or sidewalk art. The photo size should not exceed 5MB, and multiple responses are welcome.

The survey can be accessed via a QR Code or on the city's website during actual tornado watches or significant storm events. Bismarck will share the survey tool on its website and various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

In the event of a significant storm, residents should report immediate emergency needs through 9-1-1 before using the survey tool. The survey's purpose is limited to planning for recovery efforts and should only be used when severe weather has ceased.

City staff cannot assist with using the tool at the moment. Users experiencing difficulties are advised to discontinue its use. Feedback on the experience is welcomed after the drill.

Bismarck Emergency Management expresses appreciation to those participating in the drill.
