The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and Reede Construction, Inc. have issued a notice regarding a road closure scheduled as part of the Highway 2 Intersection improvement project in Williston, North Dakota.
Starting April 29, 26th Street will be closed from the frontage road on the west side up to 34th Street. Additionally, on 34th Street, traffic will be restricted to a single lane on the east side from 26th Street to 33rd Street. These measures are intended to enable safe completion of crucial improvements to the roadway, which are necessary for the expansion of Williston Square and related infrastructure.
Drivers are encouraged to plan for potential delays and adhere to posted detour signs. Efforts will be made to maintain access to local businesses and homes where feasible. The NDDOT, Reede Construction, and the City of Williston acknowledge and appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as they work to enhance traffic flow and safety.
The project includes reconstructing U.S. Highway 2 from 9th Avenue West to north of 35th Street, featuring expanded road capacity, upgraded intersections, new pedestrian walkways, and improved lighting and drainage systems to align with modern infrastructure standards.
Key dates in the construction timeline are as follows: demolition began on March 17, 2025, fieldwork for Phase 1 commenced on April 21, 2025, substantial completion is anticipated by October 25, 2025, and the final completion is expected by June 30, 2026.
