Reede Construction, Inc. has commenced the first phase of a significant roadway improvement project in Williston, North Dakota, as of April 21. The work focuses on U.S. Highway 2 and 2nd Avenue West, impacting traffic through central Williston.

This initial phase entails the closure of all inside lanes in both directions, reducing traffic flow to a single lane each way. These closures will persist until further notice as preparatory and reconstruction work is undertaken by crews.

Commissioned by the North Dakota Department of Transportation and the City of Williston, the project is designed to enhance access to the expanding Williston Square development and achieve infrastructure goals.

The scope of work includes the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 2 from 9th Avenue West to north of 35th Street. Enhancements will feature increased roadway capacity, upgraded intersections, new pedestrian facilities such as sidewalks and crosswalks, and improved lighting and drainage systems.

Preliminary demolition activities commenced on March 17, 2025. The current phase of fieldwork began on April 21, with substantial completion anticipated by October 25, 2025, and final completion, including permanent striping, expected by June 30, 2026.
