Dickinson State University prepares for Spring 2025 commencement ceremony

Dickinson State University (DSU) is set to celebrate the achievements of its Spring 2025 graduates at a commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 17, at 10:00 AM in Scott Gymnasium.

This year’s graduating student speakers are Veronica (Rohnnie) Nacota from Riverton, Wyoming, and Griffin Obrigewitch from Dickinson, North Dakota. Nacota is graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. During her time at DSU, Nacota was involved as a Student Ambassador and volunteered at various campus events. After graduation, she will begin a career with YES, LLC.

Obrigewitch, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Leadership, was active in various leadership roles on campus, including Student Ambassador and Student Senate. He is graduating Summa Cum Laude and plans to attend the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in the fall.

A total of 226 students will receive degrees, including 23 master’s, 161 bachelor’s, 33 associate’s, and 38 certificates. Additionally, 75 students will graduate with honors.

Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Holly Gruhlke stated, "This moment marks the culmination of years of dedication, growth, and perseverance. Our graduates have not only met the academic challenges placed before them, but they’ve also demonstrated the character and leadership that reflect the values of Dickinson State University. I am proud to have witnessed their journeys and excited for the contributions they will make in the world."

Ty Orton, acting president, also commented, "It has been an honor to serve our students and community during this pivotal time. The Class of 2025 has shown remarkable strength and resilience, and today’s ceremony is a celebration of that spirit. As they take this next step forward, I have no doubt they will continue to lead with courage and purpose."

The ceremony will include remarks from incoming president Scott Molander, an alumnus of DSU. Molander said, "As I step into the role of president, I am inspired by the drive and determination of the Class of 2025. Their achievements are a testament to the exceptional learning environment and community here at DSU. I look forward to supporting and championing the next generation of leaders who begin their journey as proud Blue Hawk alumni."
