On April 26, the University of Mary will host its 64th commencement ceremony at the Bismarck Event Center, conferring degrees to 1,001 graduates. Spearheaded by the Benedictine Sisters of Annunciation Monastery of Bismarck, the university will grant 587 bachelor’s, 339 master’s, and 115 doctoral degrees to students from 42 states and 15 countries.

The event marks significant milestones, including the first cohort of Doctor of Business Administration graduates and the inaugural Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Additionally, the founding members of Cappella will be graduating, and the class includes the cohort of freshmen who began in Fall 2021, known for high retention rates despite pandemic challenges.

Mary Jo Feltl will receive an honorary doctorate. Raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, she has a strong faith background fostered by early education and professional achievements in business alongside her late husband. The Feltl and Company investment firm, management roles, and subsequent leadership shaped her career. Feltl credits her success to her faith and the support of family and friends, which have also driven her to support Catholic educational initiatives.

The commencement speech will be delivered by Reverend Francis Joseph Hoffman, also known as Father Rocky, CEO of Relevant Radio. Known for his contributions to Catholic media, Father Rocky has led Relevant Radio since 2010, expanding its reach across major broadcast channels. A native of Chicago and the youngest of eight children, he pursued priesthood after early career success in tax and audit, earning a Doctorate in Canon Law. His numerous published works and media productions have achieved widespread acclaim.

Both Feltl and Father Rocky emphasize the role of faith in their lives and careers. While Mary Jo Feltl is recognized for her philanthropic contributions to education, Father Rocky has been an influential figure in Catholic media and community engagement.
