The City of Bismarck has announced its Spring Cleanup Week for residential curbside collection, scheduled from April 21 to April 24, 2025. During this period, residents can dispose of various household items as part of their regular garbage collection service. "This will be the ONLY curbside collection for the year," stated the city's announcement, making it a critical opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted items.

Residents are instructed to place their items for collection at their designated points by 6:00 a.m. on their regular garbage day. "All garbage and special items must be out by 6:00 a.m. on the regular scheduled garbage day," noted the announcement. The city emphasized the importance of separating items to aid in recycling processes, as "this allows us to recycle metals, woods, appliances, etc."

There are specific guidelines for preparing materials that will be accepted. For instance, tree branches, lumber, and wood items must be cut and tied in four-foot lengths or less, and all materials should not exceed a weight manageable by two people. Additionally, hazardous waste and liquids are not accepted curbside and should instead be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Center during its operating hours.

Bismarck also offers free landfill disposal to residents from April 21 to April 26, 2025. To utilize this service, residents need to present either their most recent utility bill or a current driver's license from the City of Bismarck. "There is a fee to dispose of tires," the city added, as tires are not accepted during curbside pickup. Residents can, however, bring tires directly to the landfill for disposal, subject to applicable fees.

The city urges residents of apartment complexes to place items for pickup at their collection points, noting that crews will not pick up appliances or carpet from these locations. Instead, these items can be brought to the landfill.

The landfill operates Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing an alternative option for disposal beyond the scheduled curbside collection.

Residents are reminded that the removal of refuse set out for collection by unauthorized individuals is illegal.
