The Crop Protection Product Harmonization and Registration Board is scheduled to convene at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, in the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s 6th floor conference room at the State Capitol.

The meeting will open with remarks from Chairman Jeff Topp, followed by roll call and a confirmation of quorum. Attendees will then be asked to review the minutes from the previous meeting held on December 18, 2024.

Lilliann Johnston will provide budget reports on the Minor Use Pesticide Fund Grant and the Pesticide Harmonization Grant Program.

Updates on past minor use fund projects will be presented. Dr. Michael Wunsch from North Dakota State University (NDSU) will discuss projects related to fungicide use for managing Ascochyta blight in chickpeas, white mold in dry beans, and powdery mildew in field peas. Furthermore, he will talk about integrating seed treatments and planting date adjustments for field pea root rot management, as well as the timing and frequency of fungicide applications for white mold management in dry beans. Dr. Venkata Chapara, also from NDSU, will evaluate pesticide compounds for the control of bacterial leaf blight in field peas.

New requests for the Minor Use Fund will be considered. Dr. Chapara is set to address foliar fungicide evaluations for managing blackleg in canola, while Dr. Wunsch will discuss fungicide application intervals and frequency in black and navy beans.

For new Product Harmonization Fund requests, the board will review a proposal from Nick Sinner of the North Dakota Grain Growers Association concerning an E-Tour.

The Crop Protection Product Harmonization and Registration Board plays a crucial role in identifying crop protection product labeling needs and exploring options to increase the availability of these products to North Dakota's agricultural producers.
