The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, in collaboration with the North Dakota Asian-American Arts and Cultural Initiative (NDAAACI), is co-hosting a series of Spring Book Chats aimed at adult literary enthusiasts. This event is part of the Kaleidoscope Project, presented by the NDAAACI.

Heather May, a Community Integration Facilitator with the City of Bismarck, will oversee these book discussions. According to the organizers, "The North Dakota Asian-American Arts and Cultural Initiative (NDAAACI) provides a platform to celebrate heritage, share stories, and foster connections. NDAAACI programs and events are designed to inspire, educate, and connect."

The Kaleidoscope Project "dives into meaningful conversations about immigration, identity, and resilience." The initiative uses a curated book selection to amplify underrepresented voices and promote dialogue that encourages empathy and understanding.

The first book chat will take place on April 26 at 3:00 PM, featuring “Oh My, Mother!” by Connie Wang. The second session is scheduled for June 28 at 3:00 PM, featuring “Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion” by Jia Tolentino. Both events will be held in the Missouri River Room at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library.

The events are free and open to all ages, with an invitation extended to media members as well. For more information, interested parties can contact Sarah Matthews, Head of Adult Programming at the library. Further details and media resources are available at bismarcklibrary.org/2221/For-the-Media and updates can be followed on their social media page at facebook.com/bismarcklibrary/.

The announcement was made by Kevin R. Tengesdal, a Public Information Specialist at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library.
