The Great Plains Food Bank has acknowledged the continuing contributions of Katie Johnke in the field of hunger relief. Johnke, who serves as the nutrition and health promotion coordinator at Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health, has been named as a Hunger Relief Champion for the year 2024. The award ceremony will take place on April 17, 2025, at 11 a.m., where the presentation will be made by Melissa Sobolik, the Chief Executive Officer of the Great Plains Food Bank, along with other staff members.

The Hunger Relief Champion Awards are designed to honor individuals and partners who exhibit outstanding leadership, generosity, and commitment in combating hunger. Recipients are recognized for their passion, service, and innovative efforts in working towards a North Dakota free of hunger.

“I’m truly humbled to receive the Hunger Relief Champion Award. It’s a reflection of the incredible collaboration happening across our community. None of this work happens alone, and I’m so grateful to be in it alongside so many dedicated people,” said Johnke.
