Sara Stolt Deputy Commissioner | North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services
North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced the resignation of Deputy Commissioner Sara Stolt, effective April 30, 2025. Interim Commissioner Dirk Wilke expressed his gratitude for Stolt's six years of service, acknowledging her contributions to the state.
Stolt began her journey with North Dakota's Human Services in February 2019 as a transformation manager. She later became the chief operations officer in December of the same year. In September 2022, she took on the role of deputy commissioner. Her resignation came as she accepted a leadership position at Noridian Healthcare Solutions.
Wilke praised Stolt by stating, "I'm grateful for Sara’s contributions and dedication to supporting North Dakotans. Her tenure has been defined by bold transformation, strategic innovation and a deep commitment to improving services across the state."
During her time with HHS, Stolt played a significant role in transforming county social services into regional human service zones, enhancing service delivery and accountability. Additionally, she implemented improvements in child welfare, including foster care, adoption, and licensing. She also established the agency’s Transformation Office to maintain progress and guide organizational change.
