First responder agencies in Bismarck, including the Bismarck Fire Department, Metro Area Ambulance, and Bismarck Emergency Management, will collaborate with the 81st (ND) Civil Support Team (CST) to execute two joint Hazmat exercises this week. These exercises aim to build and improve partnerships among local, state, and federal agencies to respond effectively to incidents involving hazardous materials that might exceed local capacity.

The initial exercise is planned within the Cottonwood Park area in South Bismarck on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Emergency response vehicles will be active throughout the day, beginning at about 7 AM. Residents are advised of potential responder vehicle movement and action. To ensure safety and unobstructed training, residents should steer clear of areas designated as ‘Exercise in Progress’ or ‘Training.’ Another drill will be held at the Fire Station 4 Training Facility on Thursday, organized by Bismarck Fire in conjunction with the ND National Guard CST.
