U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer, Lindsey Graham, and Richard Blumenthal have introduced the bipartisan Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025, targeting Russia with primary and secondary sanctions. This legislative move follows Russia's reluctance to agree to a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, which has supported the proposal in negotiations facilitated by the Trump administration.

The bill, backed by 50 additional senators, proposes significant sanctions on Russia or other entities supporting Russian aggression if Russia continues to dismiss good-faith peace negotiations or undermines Ukraine's sovereignty post-peace discussions. Additionally, it includes a clause imposing a 500 percent tariff on goods imported from nations purchasing Russian oil, gas, uranium, and other products.

"The Sanctioning Russia Act of 2025 will issue decisive consequences aimed at deterring Russian aggression. This bill sends a clear message: bullies have a price to pay for their actions. Vladimir Putin and Russia must face serious consequences for their destructive and unprovoked war on Ukraine," stated the senators.

The list of senators supporting the legislation includes various notable figures such as Dan Sullivan, Dick Durbin, Katie Britt, and others from a range of states and political backgrounds.

The full text of the bill is available for review.
