The Bismarck Fire Department tackled a fire at an empty single-family home in the central area of Bismarck on Monday night.
The department received a distress call at approximately 10:04 PM on March 31, 2025. The call reported a structure fire in the 400 block of North Griffin Street. Fire crews were quickly dispatched to the location.
Upon their arrival at 10:07 PM, firefighters found smoke emanating from the front door and windows of the single-family house. Firefighters coordinated entry into the home using a charged hose line through the front entrance. Inside, they encountered heavy smoke on the main level, traced the fire to the basement, and deployed a second line to quell the blaze. Additional fire crews swept the house and confirmed it was vacant. After extinguishing the fire, crews performed an overhaul to locate and extinguish any lingering hotspots.
"No injuries were reported to firefighters." The fire was contained in the basement, though smoke damage affected the entire house. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
