Senator John Hoeven has commented on the recent Senate approval of legislation aimed at funding the government. The legislation also seeks to achieve savings and bolster national defense.

"The reason we need a CR is because Senator Schumer refused to bring any of the individual appropriations bills, which were approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, to the floor during the last Congress," Hoeven stated. He noted that this continuing resolution has already passed in the House and enjoys strong support from President Biden.

Hoeven emphasized that this legislation aims to reduce spending as a means to address debt and deficit concerns while simultaneously increasing military support. With Republicans now controlling the Senate, Hoeven expressed intent to return to regular order by passing individual appropriations bills through committee processes and bringing them to the floor for consideration.
