Three players from the Bismarck Larks have signed contracts with professional baseball organizations. Cade Torgerson, Jason Hughes, and Jamal Allen will join Major League Baseball Partner Leagues across the country.
Cade Torgerson, a left-handed pitcher from the University of Jamestown, has joined the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association. After a successful first season with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, Torgerson showcased his pitching skills during the 2024 season with an ERA of 4.76 and eighteen strikeouts in 17 innings for the Larks.
Jason Hughes, a right-handed pitcher from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania, has signed with the Washington Wild Things in the Frontier League. He played nine games last summer for York Revolution and struck out thirty-five players over 33.1 innings for the Larks. Hughes was also pivotal as a closing pitcher in a decisive game against Badlands Big Sticks.
Jamal Allen, another right-handed pitcher from Union University, will join Grand Junction in the Pioneer League. Allen's performance included twenty-nine strikeouts over twenty games during his time with the Larks in 2024.
The Larks organization expressed pride in these players' achievements and their impact on Bismarck baseball. Field Manager Mark Weidemaier remarked: “These guys all come to play in the Northwoods with hopes of someday realizing their dreams and achieving their goals of playing professional baseball.” He added: “The 2024 Bismarck Larks saw three young men do just that! Congratulations to Cade Torgerson, Jason Hughes, and Jamal Allen!”
