Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border with fellow freshman House Republicans to assess the challenges faced by border communities and law enforcement. The delegation was hosted by Representative Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) and included meetings with officials on the front lines, as well as tours of various facilities, including the southern border wall.

Fedorchak expressed gratitude to Congressman Ciscomani for his hospitality and leadership on border security. She remarked, "Learning more about the many layers of our nation’s border crisis and the far-reaching consequences of President Biden’s refusal to lead on this issue was eye-opening." She further stated her commitment to working with the Trump administration and Congress to ensure that border agents have necessary resources.

The group visited key locations such as the Nogales Port of Entry, a major crossing point for fruits, vegetables, and fentanyl seizures. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents discussed their efforts in intercepting illegal drugs, cash, and firearms while facilitating legitimate trade.

At a migrant processing center, Fedorchak noted a significant change from previous conditions: “A year ago, this facility held 1,400 immigrants. Today, it had zero. That’s because President Trump is enforcing our nation’s laws."

The tour also included a visit to the Nogales border wall where CBP agents highlighted its effectiveness in reducing crossings by approximately 95%. The delegation met with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials investigating transnational criminal organizations involved in human trafficking and drug smuggling. Fedorchak emphasized the need for strong policies to dismantle these networks.

The delegation's activities concluded with an examination of threats posed by Mexican cartels to national security. Discussions focused on addressing cartel spotters and informants who hinder law enforcement efforts.

Fedorchak praised CBP and ICE agents for their dedication and reiterated her commitment to strengthening border security policies: “Our law enforcement officers have been stretched to the brink, but now, with a return to real enforcement, they are back to doing their jobs—protecting America.”
