Governor Kelly Armstrong has announced the opening of the application period for North Dakota's school, community, and church bands, orchestras, and choirs. These groups are invited to apply for the roles of Governor’s Official State Band/Orchestra Program and Choral Program for the 2025-2026 school year.

The selection process will involve Governor Armstrong and the First Lady evaluating applicants based on musical talent, achievement, and community involvement. Selected groups may have the opportunity to perform at official state functions throughout the year, including events such as the State of the State Address.

Applications must include references and a musical recording and should be submitted to the Governor’s Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 4. The chosen Governor’s Band/Orchestra Program and Governor’s Choral Program will be announced in April. They may be invited to perform at the Capitol in May 2025 and participate in various events during the 2025-2026 school year.
