Dickinson State University (DSU) will host the Badlands Opera Project's (BOP) performance of "Into the Woods" from March 28-30 at the May Hall Dorothy Stickney Auditorium. This event marks the start of a new partnership between DSU and BOP, promising future performances and opportunities.
"We are extremely grateful to DSU for the opportunities this partnership will bring," said Kelsey K. Rogers, BOP Artistic Director. "We look forward to housing many shows and summer camps at DSU, and the increased artist opportunities the use of this space will provide us. We see this as a positive step forward not only for our organization but also for the future of the arts in the Dickinson region."
Several key members of BOP are alumni of DSU, including board members Beth Hurt and Jesse Kilwein, social media coordinator Cole Beck, marketing director Joel Walter, and executive director Kayla Kilwein.
The collaboration offers opportunities for DSU students as well. Autumn Martin-Geerts, a senior at DSU, will perform as Milky White and Snow White in "Into the Woods." This is her first production with BOP. “I haven’t had much experience with the BOP,” Martin-Geerts said. “But I am excited to get back onto the stage and see how they work.”
The performance represents a significant milestone in enhancing collaboration between DSU and BOP, contributing to Dickinson's arts community while providing valuable experiences for students and professionals.
