A group of six friends, calling themselves the "Motley 701 Ski-A-Palooza," recently undertook a challenging mission to snowboard at all four ski areas in North Dakota within a single day. Their successful journey covered Frost Fire Park, Bottineau Winter Park, Thrill Hills, and Huff Hills Ski Area in just 10 hours, highlighting the state's winter recreation opportunities.

“It started out as a ridiculous challenge, but it was amazing how everything came together to make this a reality,” said Brent Huso from McVille. He emphasized the importance of creating memorable experiences with old friends.

The group began their adventure early on February 8 and completed their challenge with a nighttime ride at Huff Hills. Andy Beck, Mountain Operations Manager at Huff Hills, expressed enthusiasm for their endeavor: “When they reached out explaining what they wanted to do, I said ‘Hold on, what are you guys doing?’ This is one of the coolest ideas ever.” Beck mentioned that staff stayed late and turned on lights to support the group's final stop.

Beck encourages others to take on similar challenges and suggests extending trips over weekends to enjoy more time on the slopes and in local communities. “We’d love to hear from others wanting to do this. Maybe go over a weekend so they can spend more time at each area,” he added.

This event underscores the growing popularity of winter sports in North Dakota. Recent investments through Destination Development Grants have enhanced ski facilities across the state. Huso noted, “With the long winter months here in North Dakota, there is still plenty of beauty to take in and explore.”
