Gov. Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota has enacted an executive order permitting the appointment of a staff member from the Governor's Office to lead the state's Military Commission. This move alters the previous mandate that designated the lieutenant governor as chairperson of the 11-member panel.
The new order empowers Armstrong to appoint Alan Dohrmann, Chief Operating Officer of the Governor’s Office, as chair. Dohrmann brings extensive experience from a military career spanning over four decades, including his role as adjutant general of the North Dakota National Guard until his retirement in July.
"Armstrong intends to appoint Governor’s Office Chief Operating Officer Alan Dohrmann to chair the Military Commission," states the announcement.
This decision marks a shift in leadership for the commission tasked with overseeing military matters within North Dakota.
