Julie Fedorchak meets leaders to discuss key issues impacting North Dakotans

Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) engaged with North Dakotans and various industry leaders in Washington D.C. this week. The meetings focused on key issues such as energy, agriculture, education, and health care.

During a meeting with Dr. Scott Snyder from the University of North Dakota (UND), Rep. Fedorchak explored UND's federal research priorities and ongoing projects related to energy, autonomous systems, aviation, and defense technologies.

The Northern Plains National Park Heritage Area emphasized the significance of preserving North Dakota’s natural beauty, culture, and heritage.

Rep. Fedorchak commended the athletes, volunteers, and organizers of the North Dakota Special Olympics for their dedication to inclusivity. Toby, an athlete from Grand Forks, expressed his enthusiasm for bowling.

Discussions with the North Dakota Rural Water System Managers highlighted the necessity of continued funding for rural water systems in the state.

In a meeting with the North Dakota Department of Transportation, Rep. Fedorchak stressed the importance of collaboration between federal, state, and local partners to address infrastructure needs.

Chief Agent Ben Leingang from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation updated Rep. Fedorchak on the fentanyl crisis and efforts to deport illegal immigrants. He noted record amounts of fentanyl entering the state. Rep. Fedorchak mentioned this issue on the House Floor while supporting H.R. 27, the HALT Fentanyl Act.

The North Dakota Barley Council discussed trade issues such as tariffs and crop insurance and left with a "No Barley No Beer" sticker.

Rep. Fedorchak also visited students during her week in Washington D.C., including those from Bismarck High School where they discussed drug prevention efforts among minors and vaping's impact on high school students.

Students from North Dakota’s Tribal Colleges shared their educational experiences highlighting TCUs' role in their journeys.

Rep. Fedorchak met with Mr. Dan Williams, Alberta's Minister of Mental Health and Addiction, discussing shared interests between North Dakota and Alberta regarding trade as well as hockey connections involving University of North Dakota players in Edmonton and Calgary teams.

In discussions with Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas (CHAD), she talked about incentivizing efficiency in rural health care through innovative models for behavioral health services delivery.
