U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) won election to the North Dakota governorship over Merrill Piepkorn (D) and Michael Coachman (I). As of publication time, Armstrong won statewide with 68.24%, compared to Piepkorn’s 25.97%, and Coachman’s 5.62%, according to unofficial results reported by the N.D. Secretary of State.

Armstrong won Burleigh County with 70.97% of the vote, compared to Piepkorn’s 22.05% and Coachman’s 6.79%.

In Morton County, Armstrong received 74.02%, while Piepkorn received 18.88% and Coachman received 6.94%.

361,295 votes were cast statewide in the governor’s election, while 51,363 and 16,596 votes were cast in Burleigh and Morton Counties, respectively.
