The U.S. Air Force has awarded a $491,607,268 modification to a previously granted contract to General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense company. This funding supports the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture Ground Management and Integration project as well as its operation and sustainment efforts. The total cumulative value of the contract now stands at $887,797,585.
Work on this project will be carried out in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Huntsville, Alabama. The Space Development Agency (SDA) is overseeing the contracting activity. The completion date for the project is set for September 30, 2029.
U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) commented on the award: “The United States must develop space assets at the speed of China, and that takes major investments. This award acknowledges that reality and I’m glad Grand Forks is positioned so well to contribute to this important mission.”
Senator Cramer serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), where he advocates for legislation and initiatives aimed at advancing space-based capabilities and missions.
In August, Senator Cramer was involved in several activities related to the SDA Operations Center North at Grand Forks Air Force Base (GFAFB). These included participating in a Grand Forks Base Retention Committee meeting, touring the University of North Dakota (UND) National Security Corridor, announcing new Navy personnel at GFAFB, meeting with E-Space CEO Greg Wyler alongside UND faculty and SDA staff to discuss workforce development initiatives, and announcing educational initiatives between SDA and UND.
