The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the award of $427,935 to North Dakota State University through the Division of Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI). The funding will support a project titled “High-Yield Core Luminescent Silicon-Carbide Nanocrystals from Mixed Liquid Precursors.” This initiative aims to address manufacturing challenges related to the synthesis and processing of advanced fluorescent silicon carbide (SiC) quantum dots, spanning from precursor materials to the final product.
The CMMI division focuses on advancing future manufacturing technologies, innovative material design, infrastructure resilience and sustainability, as well as decision-making tools, robotics, and controls.
