Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, announced a $23 million award to the City of West Fargo for the 9th Street NE Grade Separation Project. The funds, made available under the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) discretionary grant program, will be used to enhance roadway safety at the grade crossing of 9th Street NE and a BNSF Railway line within West Fargo.
The project will install a road-rail grade separation complete with pedestrian, bicycle, and ADA accommodations at the intersection of 9th Street NE and an existing transcontinental BNSF rail line. Earlier this year, Hoeven and the delegation advocated for funding the project to the Transportation Secretary, emphasizing benefits to freight transportation while reducing congestion and improving safety.
"The funding that we worked to secure will support much-needed safety measures and enhancements for roadways in West Fargo. By installing a road-rail grade separation, this critical intersection will operate more efficiently and with greater safety for local residents," said Hoeven.
