WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, issued a statement following Congress's approval of national security supplemental funding legislation.
"With increasing unrest around the globe, including Iran’s recent attack on Israel, it’s more important than ever that we stand with Israel as they defend themselves against Hamas," Senator Hoeven emphasized.
He continued, stating, "I continue to believe that U.S. support for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan should be focused on military assistance, and more than half of the assistance in this package directly supports our national defense."
Senator Hoeven also highlighted the importance of addressing shared adversaries, saying, "We need to continue pushing back on our shared adversaries, including Putin, Iran, and Hamas, as well as ensuring we counter Chinese aggression."
In addition, he mentioned the improvements made to the legislation by the House, noting, "The House improved the legislation by making economic assistance to Ukraine a loan, and including a provision to use Russian assets to help cover costs."
Concluding his statement, Senator Hoeven emphasized, "This legislation is important for both U.S. national security and to that of our allies."
