WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $10 million for the Hector International Airport Terminal Expansion Project, according to Senator John Hoeven. As a member of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Committee, Hoeven played a key role in securing the award and continues to work towards fulfilling the federal cost share of over $80 million for the estimated $155 million project.

The Hector International Terminal Expansion Project aims to meet the growing demands on transportation infrastructure in the Fargo-Moorhead region. The project includes expanding the current terminal building to accommodate nine gates, an apron expansion, and the construction of a new parking garage with an elevated walkway.

Senator Hoeven expressed his satisfaction with the grant, stating, "Fargo-Moorhead is a dynamic region with ever-growing demands on its transportation infrastructure, including at Hector International. That's why we worked to secure this $10 million grant for Fargo's terminal expansion project, part of the more than $80 million overall federal cost share. With construction to start this spring, today's award provides a welcome boost for efforts to expand and update this critical facility."

Furthermore, the FAA has also awarded $700,000 for the Standing Rock Airport to support the construction of a general aviation terminal building. This facility will provide a structure for pilots, staff, and passengers to seek shelter from the elements.

These awards demonstrate the commitment of the FAA and Senator Hoeven towards improving and modernizing airport facilities in North Dakota. With construction set to begin in the spring, the Hector International Terminal Expansion Project will enhance the capacity and services offered by the airport, catering to the increasing needs of the Fargo-Moorhead community and beyond.
