The U.S. Department of Transportation has announced that it will be awarding nearly $4 million in funding to airports across the state of North Dakota. The funding, provided through the Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) program, will be allocated to various projects aimed at improving the infrastructure and safety of these airports.

Bismarck Municipal Airport will receive the largest portion of the funding, with $2,566,048 designated for the construction of a service road to the snow removal equipment building. This project will enhance the airport's ability to effectively clear snow and maintain safe operations during winter weather conditions.

Minot International Airport will receive $728,354 for the installation of 17,000 feet of drainage improvements. This initiative aims to enhance the airport's drainage system, ensuring efficient water management and preventing potential flooding issues.

The Devils Lake Airport Authority will receive $304,000 for the second phase of reconstructing 1,250 square yards of the existing aviation apron pavement. This project will contribute to the overall improvement of the airport's infrastructure, allowing for smoother and safer aircraft movements on the ground.

Cando Municipal Airport Authority will receive $173,000 for the reconstruction of the existing runway lighting system. This investment will ensure adequate lighting for pilots during takeoff and landing, enhancing overall safety measures at the airport.

The Bowman County Airport Authority will receive $144,000 to fund the final phase of construction on a new 8,000 square foot steel hangar for aircraft storage and maintenance service. This new facility will provide much-needed space for aircraft storage and maintenance, supporting the growth and operations of the airport.

The Casselton Robert Miller Regional Airport Authority will receive $38,700 for the final phase of construction on a project rehabilitating 3,900 feet of runway. This rehabilitation project is crucial in maintaining the structural integrity of the pavement and ensuring the safety of aircraft operations.

Lastly, the Mott Municipal Airport Authority will receive $30,000 to complete the final phase of septic system installation. This project aims to enhance the airport's infrastructure and improve waste management facilities.

The funding for these projects comes as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which established the AIG program. This program aims to provide funding to airports for modernization and safety projects, ensuring that airports across the country can continue to operate efficiently and safely.

Senator Cramer expressed his appreciation for the funding, stating, "These investments in North Dakota's airports will not only improve infrastructure and safety but also support economic growth and development in our state. I am grateful to the Department of Transportation for recognizing the importance of these projects and providing the necessary funding."

With this funding, the airports in North Dakota will be able to make significant improvements to their infrastructure, enhancing safety and efficiency for travelers and supporting economic growth in the region.
