At approximately 4:37 pm on Sunday May 21st, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a call for a fire in the kitchen of a home in the 200 block of Connecticut Street.  Two residents were able to evacuate the home with their pets.  When the fire department arrived, they reported heavy smoke coming out the eaves of the home.

The fire crews initially reported the fire on the stove top was out, but had spread to the attic area.  Fire crews had to pull sheetrock down to access the small attic area where fire had spread the full length of the home.  Once the fire was initially knocked down crews continued to overhaul the entire attic space.

Seven fire department apparatus and 24 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene.  The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control.  Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support to the residents and aided in firefighter rehab.  No injuries were reported.  The home is a total loss.  The cause of the fire is ruled accidental.
