Williams County imposes immediate weight restrictions on rural roads due to rain

Effective immediately as of October 17, 2025, at 1:50 PM CST, all gravel and chip seal roads in Williams County and its townships are now subject to a 7-ton axle weight limit, with a maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 105,500 pounds. This restriction applies to all zones within the county.

The decision comes after recent rainfall in the area. As a result, any permits that were approved before this announcement are no longer valid.

Officials stated that road conditions will be monitored and re-evaluated throughout the day.
