America’s Field Trip, a national contest for students in grades 3-12, will return for the 2025–2026 school year. The program, which coincides with the United States’ 250th anniversary, is expanding its offerings this year. Organizers will increase the number of winners from 150 to 250, with students having the chance to win field trips to significant American landmarks or receive cash prizes.

According to the America250 Team, “In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, we’re expanding the contest with more exciting field trips, and more opportunities for students to win. A total of 250 winners (up from 150) will receive an unforgettable field trip experience or a cash prize.”

Of those winners, 125 first-place awardees will be able to choose from 16 different trips designed for the semiquincentennial. These trips will take students to landmarks that highlight American history and provide hands-on, behind-the-scenes experiences.

To participate, students are asked to submit either a written piece or original artwork that answers the question: “What does America mean to you?” The contest is open for entries until March 30, 2026.

The America250 Team stated, “Today’s young people are the leaders, innovators, and thinkers who will shape America’s next 250 years — and it’s important that their voices are heard as we commemorate this historic milestone. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to be part of our nation’s 250th celebrations through America’s Field Trip!”

Additional resources, including highlights from previous winners and classroom materials for teachers, are available on the contest’s website.
