The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library has received the 2024 Future-Focused recognition from the North Dakota Library Coordinating Council and the North Dakota State Library. The award was announced at the 2025 NDLA/SDLA/MPLA Tri-Conference in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

To achieve this designation, libraries must meet criteria at three levels: Developing, Excelling, and Future-Focused. These standards involve requirements in areas such as program offerings, community outreach efforts, local support, policy creation, budgeting practices, and adherence to professional standards.

Out of 84 public libraries in North Dakota, Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is one of only four to receive this distinction for 2024. The library has earned this recognition multiple times in previous years.

Christine Kujawa, Director of Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library, stated: “This recognition highlights our library’s dedication to providing exceptional service and fostering lifelong learning for all. We’re honored to be recognized among North Dakota’s leading public libraries.”
