The North Dakota Department of Commerce has opened applications for the 2025 Tribal Tourism Grants, making $100,000 available to support tourism projects led by tribal nations in the state.

Starting October 1, eligible tribal governments can apply for grants of up to $20,000. The funding is designated for the current biennium, which covers July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027. To qualify, applicants must be a tribal government located within North Dakota and submit an application letter detailing their proposed project, expected outcomes, and proof of matching funds from non-state sources.

Grant proposals will be assessed on their ability to attract visitors from outside the state and improve local tourism offerings. Metrics such as website visits, media exposure, new bookings, and the creation of new experiences will be used to measure success. Applications are required to be submitted electronically to Commerce Grant Administrator McKenzie Clayburgh at clayburghmckenzie@nd.gov.

"The Tribal Tourism Grant program was made possible through legislation passed by the North Dakota Legislature in House Bill 1581, underscoring the state’s commitment to supporting tribal-led tourism development," according to the department.
