Starting September 2, eastbound traffic at the south end of the Highway 2/26th Street intersection in Williston will face new restrictions as Phase 2 construction continues. The North Dakota Department of Transportation announced that all eastbound lanes, including turn and straight lanes, will be reduced to a single lane until Saturday, September 6.
During this period, no truck traffic is allowed through the restricted area. A vehicle length limit of 20 feet is also in effect; any vehicles exceeding this length must use alternate routes.
According to officials, these changes are needed for manhole and intersection work. "These changes are necessary to complete manhole and intersection work safely and efficiently. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure project continues."
The department cautioned that oversized vehicles may not be able to navigate the intersection during the restriction period and could create delays or hazards if they attempt to pass through.
Drivers are advised to expect delays, follow posted detours, and plan their travel accordingly.
